Trapped Fox - Live Acoustic Version

“It’s your hand on the tiller to the rudder.

No matter which way the wind ought to blow,

It can’t tell you which way you ought to roam”

Trapped Fox turns out to be one of my most requested songs. It's an unlikely contender for crowd favourite, being that it's about eight minutes long and in a waltzy 6/8 time signature.

Though the lyrics can be a little abstract or metaphorical, something about the feel and the meaning of the song seems to cut through to the listener.

If you've gotten to Chapter V of the Golden Moment book, you'll know all the ins and outs of this song.

To me, the meaning of the song has transformed over time. Essentially it's a reminder to me of finding my own way, walking my unique path as a person and as an artist and that I have the choice to do that when I think for myself and what's 'right' or 'good' for my long term happiness.

In my case, guess what?... that's to be writing music, recording it, performing it and sharing it however I can with music loving legends like YOU!

This clip was shot near Studley Park in Melbourne with a beautiful view of the Melbourne skyline at sunset. You can even hear the fruit bats from the nearby bat colony there!

Big love,

Mijo

TRAPPED FOX

Nurture me, nourish me

Hold out your hand, give only good seed

You can build your storm,

But can you clear away this fog

You built my library, you stack the catalogue

So please, please, please, please...

It’s getting hard to take in air

It’s a battle that I can’t win

But we can sit on a hill where the comets fly

Lasso our way into the night

And upon our return all the cities will be burned

Where once was a concrete gloom,

All the flowers return to bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom.

When you see your eyes in the eye of your brother

And it’s your hand on the tiller to the rudder

No matter which way the wind ought to blow

It can’t tell you which way you ought to roam

They say they found the truth under ground

But as soon as it caught light it took off like a sound

Coz it’s an apparition in the corner of your eye

It’s a visiting relative who you know to have died

The trap is shut, the bait is gone

Well, the truth don’t lay under the clay

No, it’s apportioned and it’s spread throughout your days

Now, it’s a treasure for which your mind must be keen

Slowly but surely your truth can be gleaned. Ooohhh.

They say they found the truth under ground

But as soon as it caught light it took off like a sound

Coz it’s an apparition in the corner of your eye

It’s a visiting relative who you know to have died

The trap is shut, the bait is gone

They say they found the truth under ground

But as soon as it caught light it took off like a sound

Coz it’s an apparition in the corner of your eye

It’s a visiting relative who you know to have died

They say they found the truth under ground

But as soon as it caught light it took off like a sound

Now it’s an apparition in the corner of your eye

It’s a visiting relative who you know to have died

The trap is shut, oh no, the bait is gone

Now you feel the shame, you tried to catch it at all

Oooohhhh... Oooohhhh... Oooohhhh

Oooohhhh... Oooohhhh... Oooohhhh
