I'm glad you got my message in a bottle and made your way here.
From respecting your work for decades and appreciating your beard from afar, I wanted to get in touch about recording my next album with you.
I'm a singer & songwriter from Melbourne, Australia. I'm recently back from a song writing journey in the far north wilderness of Iceland (see the link at the bottom of this page for more details) where I wrote, recorded and made film clips for 25 new songs in 23 days.
I've toured with triple Grammy Award Winner Gotye and have been recording the pre-production and overdubs for this new album in his studio.
References do get made to Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses, but I'm not sure music critics have worked it out just yet.
This page is here to share with you what I've done so far on my next album project and invite you to get in touch and discuss making an astonishing album together that is nothing less than amazing.
Below is a short 'making of' clip and 3 tracks that are done at this stage to give you an idea of where things are headed. I hope you'll keep an open mind and ears for all the possibilities.
WORD ON THE STREET...
"I've been a fan of Mijo Biscan's music for over 10 years, since seeing his remarkable album launch in 2005. I got to know Mijo better over the last few years by sharing some time together during a GOTYE tour around Europe. We get along very well and share a strong musical connection."
"Mijo is a very talented song-writer. Mijo's best work and his widening reputation are still ahead of him."
- CLARE BOWDITCH
"Lots of rustic Augie March influence in this brew. Which is good, because I like Augie March a lot.”
- Richard Kingsmill, Triple J
“Moody, heartbreaking, stunning, fucking epic.”
– Beat Magazine
“Fantastic haunting pop. There are Buckley-esque tones to the vocals - perfect for the soaring melodies. Lovely warm, acoustic instrumentation. Defo one for fans of Augie March, Mum, Beirut etc.”
- Dan Buhagiar, Triple J Radio
“Lamplight (Mijo's band) and a sold-out Northcote Social Club traveled an intense nautically themed journey that was part sea-shanty, part thrash, part croon, and completely fucking breathtaking. The night saw an aggressive and vivid live beast unleashed after many months of recording.”
– Beat Magazine
