Here's basically the process I used to chose the songs for my new album.

Play the songs and take notes on what I like about the song, what I don't like about the song, the theme, mood and style of the song and then rate it out of 10 as to how strongly I feel that it needs to be on the album.

Once I got my 10 songs for the album that came to about 45-50 mins of playing time I started to put them in order.

I front loaded the album with tracks that are more up-tempo and move along pretty well yet are not too intense.

Close the album out with a few good closing tracks that are interesting, uplifting and empowering.

That was my thought process here.
